Mama Elephant: Cloud 9

Hello everyone!
Double the treat today with the blog posts.  :P  Today I will be featuring Mama Elephant's Lovely Piggies and Technique Tuesday's Cloud 9 stamp sets.  Mama Elephant released the Lovely Piggies stamp set in December, however, I was in the Christmas card making season, so I did not get a chance to play with it.  Since Valentines is coming up I thought it fitting to break it out for a card or two.

I used the second largest Gina Marie Stitched Scallop die to cut out the center of a 4.25x5.5 panel to create a scallop inside edge.  This looks a bit different from the Inside Scallop Frame die I have from Gina Marie because the scallops are reversed.  I loved the look of it.  I then lined this with my card base and tape the edges so that I could use the cloud border stencil.  The reason I lined the base with my scallop panel was because I wanted it to be one continuous scene even after I pop up the scallop panel (which I planned on doing at the end).   I used Distress Oxide in Picked Raspberry rather than Distress Ink because of how fluffy the chalkiness of the ink made it look.  I then used one of Honey Bee's Ocean Scene builder stencil to create rays of light with Distress Oxide Fossilize Amber.  Finally I used Simon Says Stamp Falling Hearts Stencil with Distress Oxide in Candied Apple to do an ombre of hearts.  I then adhered some of my images down and heat embossed my sentiment from Technique Tuesday's Cloud 9 stamp set with Versifine Onyx Black as well as Iridescent Confetti Black embossing powder.  I lined and popped up the scallop panel with the base peace and popped up my Cupid Piggie.

I hope you like my card!

My Favorite Things:I Vike You Very Much

Hello everyone!
I totally forgot to write a blog post for a card I made last week! I don't know how that slipped by.  I recently purchased MFT's Extreme Black ink as well as BB's Viking mini stamp.  I have been shopping around for an alcohol maker black ink as my Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink is starting to loose its ink coverage :(.  I can still use it, however, I have to use my MISTI to stamp it a few times to get a good coverage.  Sad times, but its about that time, I've had the ink pad for about two years and its my go to ink for pretty much any stamping I do.  I hope that Simon Says Stamp will one day put out an ink refill for the Intense Black ink.  The pad in itself is still awesome, just need more ink.  It was good timing because I saw on the MFT youtube channel they were coming out with a very black ink and I was super excited about that because I love when my images are bold.   So far I'm loving the coverage and how black it is!

Anywho, I digress.... :) For this card I am featuring BB's Viking mini stamp set and Magical Dragons stamp set.  I was googling over the Vikings when I saw the MFT's countdown and was excited to get it.  I wanted to do something a bit more simple.  I used the Falling Hearts Stencil by Simon Says Stamp to create my background.  I mixed Distress Ink in Candy Apple and some Rangers Texture Paste to create some texture for the heart background.  When working with texture paste, clean off your surface and any tools used (stencil, spatula) right away or it will dry up  and may not come off.    I then set the background aside to dry while I stamped with MFT's Extreme Black ink and Copic colored the images I decided to use.  I was inspired by the characters Stoick and Skullcrusher in the movie, How to Train a Dragon.

It was an tough process trying to blend the reds and greens of Skullcrushers head together; I had to go back and forth between the colors a few times.  Once I finished coloring the images I used a sentiment from the Viking's stamp set to heat emboss on red cardstock with white embossing powder and die cut it from Gina Marie's Stitched Heart stack.  I used my Cricut machine to cut a shadow piece from Grey Cardstock and used Distress Ink in Hickory smoke to blend the edges.

I hope you like my card!

Simon Says Stamp/Mama Elephant: Birthday Rainbows

Hello everyone!
Today I will be featuring a Stamptember Simon Says Stamp and Mama Elephant collaboration stamp set.  I have had this set for a while, but have been on a Christmas card mission.  Usually during the later end of the year its hard for me to get non-Christmas cards out.  My sister asked me to make a couple of birthday card and thought that this would b a good stamp set to make a set of cards. The cards in this set are quite similar scene, just in different orientation layout.

I started by stamping all the images I wanted to use with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink so that I could Copic color them.  I fussy cut the images.  I then used Gina Marie Scallop frame die to cut out two frames.  I used the inside portion of the frames to create a card.  I used the frame to plan out the area I want to do some distressing with Oxides in Cracked Pistachio, Peeled Paint and Peacock Feathers. I also used MFT's Radiating Rays Stencil and Lawn Fawn Meddow Boarder die for the card I used the inside portion of the frame.   I used a sentiment from the stamp set and heat embossed it using Versifine Onyx Black with confetti black embossing powder (I have no idea what company the embossing powder is from as I had bought it a long time ago at the San Diego Fair). I finished the card by adding adding sequins, using Spectrium Niors clear glitter pen and Glossy accents for the Sun.  I hope you like my cards.  :)
